National Archives of Afghanistan Kabul
The National Archives of Afghanistan, originally built in the late 19th century, was first used as a royal library. In 1973, it was converted into the main repository for the country’s historical documents.
This archive preserves a unique collection of rare manuscripts in Arabic, Persian, Pashto, and Turkish, including royal decrees, official correspondence, and calligraphic artworks. Together, these treasures reflect the administrative and cultural history of Afghanistan.
