Ali-Chapur Hill (Ali Chapur Mound) Mazar-i-Sharif

Situated south of Mazar-e-Sharif, Ali-Chapur Hill is an ancient archaeological site dating back several millennia. Excavations have uncovered pottery, metal artifacts, and remnants of ancient buildings from pre-Islamic civilizations. Scholars believe the site was once part of ancient Balkh’s early urban culture, making it a valuable window into Afghanistan’s deep historical roots. Although excavations have been limited, the hill remains protected by the government as a significant heritage site.
