Located in southwestern Kabul, the Chehel Sotoun Palace (literally “Forty Columns”) was built during the reign of Amir Abdur Rahman Khan. The palace is known for its majestic halls, tall columns, and surrounding gardens, designed in a blend of Persian and Mughal architectural styles.
Though it was damaged during past wars, restoration efforts in recent years have begun to bring back its former beauty, reminding visitors of the grandeur of Afghanistan’s royal past.
