Kabul Arg (Gul Khana Palace)

The Kabul Arg, also known as the Gul Khana Palace, has been the official residence of Afghan kings and later the presidents of Afghanistan. This historic complex was built during the reign of Amir Abdur Rahman Khan in the late 19th century. It includes royal palaces, government offices, inner gardens, and strong defensive walls.
The architecture of the Arg blends traditional Afghan design with Western influences, especially during the Amanullah Khan era. Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, the Kabul Arg has played a central role in the nation’s political history and remains a symbol of Afghanistan’s central government.
