Grand Mosque of Ziaratgah Herat
The Grand Mosque of Ziaratgah is located in the village of Ziaratgah, about 25 kilometers south of Herat city. This beautiful mosque is one of the finest remaining structures from the era of Sultan Husayn Bayqara and was built by the Khwajagan Association of Ziaratgah around 887–889 AH (1482–1484 CE).
The mosque features a square courtyard with four iwans (arched halls), measuring 67 by 80 meters, and minarets rising up to 36 meters high. Its architectural harmony and proportions reflect the refined artistry of the Timurid period.
