Kafir Qala (Kafir Fortress) Mazar-i-Sharif

Kafir Qala is a 2,000-year-old archaeological site in Balkh province. Historical records suggest that the fortress served as a military outpost during the Kushan era.
In recent years, measures have been taken to preserve this ancient site, including redirecting the Qosh-Tipa canal to prevent damage. Kafir Qala remains a valuable cultural and historical monument, highlighting the military and civic organization of early civilizations in northern Afghanistan.
